Alstef Group has an immediate opening for a Electrical Solution Design Engineer in our Quakertown, PA office.  Only local candidates will be considered (Greater Philadelphia area.Lehigh Valley, etc.)

 

This position is responsible for the development of the electrical, lower-level controls design of automated material handling systems to meet customer requirements as part of the Tendering team.  Various types of material handling and automation equipment will be integrated into designs to meet customer expectations and maintain expected performance of systems, while adhering to customer budgets and providing a cost-effective solution with correctly selected technology.  The Electrical Solution Design Engineer, along with other members of the Tendering team, will be responsible for the functionality of proposed systems as awarded projects are handed off from the Tendering team and Project Implementation team.

Profile required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop low-level controls schemes for material handling and automation solutions based on customer needs.
  • Review customer technical specifications and develop solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Report current design status to tendering manager and tender coordinator.
  • Assist with the development of proposal documents when necessary
  • Create engineering documentation, including but not limited to, controls layout drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Conduct design review meetings with tendering team, engineers, and third parties to review progress and challenges of proposed solutions.
  • Assist with the cost development of integrated items in a designed solution, including but not limited to, sensors, PLCs, control panels, and labor.
  • Conduct site surveys, as required, to identify existing site conditions and existing equipment to design a complete solution.
  • Identify spare parts and create preliminary spare parts lists as required to include costs as part of a tender.
  • Gather and provide lead times for integrated equipment to aid in the development of project schedules.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Experience with customer interface
  • 3-5 years of experience from material handling and/or with industrial automation system integration projects
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Solid understanding of system integration, electrical engineering, automation and industrial controls
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Available to travel up to 25%
