About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead and mentor the engineering team, driving the successful delivery of Alstef’s projects. This role demands a highly skilled professional who can manage resources, develop engineering standards, and deliver high-quality solutions that align with client expectations. The Technical Manager will provide expertise across mechanical, electrical, and software domains in the design of Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and lead technical reviews to ensure BHS functionality meets industry and company standards.
  • Train and mentor engineers on BHS design principles, best practices, and company-specific standards.
  • Develop and refine internal tools and processes to enhance project delivery speed, quality, and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical expertise for proposals and bids.
  • Participate in client meetings, offering technical support to project teams.
  • Monitor project timelines, ensuring milestones are achieved and proactively addressing any challenges.

Profile required

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and a deep understanding of BHS systems, complemented by robust knowledge of engineering standards. You should excel at providing guidance to both senior leaders and junior engineers while ensuring project objectives are met.

 

Key requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, and automation design for BHS.
  • Expertise in commissioning BHS systems on-site, with a proven track record in both greenfield and brownfield projects
  • Expert level PLC programming with proven experience in baggage handling industry
  • Comprehensive understanding of machine safety legislation and AS 4024 standards
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and train engineers across various levels of expertise
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of effectively presenting complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
