About the Role
Alstef Australia is growing and we are seeking an experienced Minor Works Technician (Electrical) who will carry out Minor Works installations on the equipment within Airport Services and Parcel handling sites. This role is responsible for performing all required installation works, preventative, reactive and corrective maintenance, as well as creating and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment. The Minor Works Technician will when necessary fill in as a Shift Relief to ensure staffing levels are adequate across sites and locations.
Location – Based at Brisbane airport but requires travel to other sites in Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne as and when required
$57.86 per hour all inclusive as per EBA agreement - Brisbane Airport Operations and Maintenance Agreement 2024 + benefits
Hours – full time
Key Responsibilities
- Installing and maintaining motors, sensors, and control systems.
- Troubleshooting electrical faults, wiring issues, and control panel failures.
- Working with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) to automate conveyor operations.
- Ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards.
- Connecting power supplies to motors, sensors, and emergency stop systems.
- Co-ordination and implementation of Effective Maintenance Plan
- Complete all necessary paperwork / reports and Inventory records accurately
- Working in line with all Airport / Site service levels and to Alstef standards
- Complying with all heath and safety policies and client security
- Responsible for regular communication with staff and stakeholders to ensure the status of equipment / any issues that could be impactful are made clear in a timely manner
- There may be some outdoor work required.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14000, and ISO 45000 standards

Profile required
About you
- Industrial Electrical trade qualification or equivalent - relevant electrical qualification (Certificate III or IV), an electrical worker licence, and ideally current minor works-specific licences for State requirements
- Have up to date H&S training and qualifications
- Current Electrical Registration license must be valid – essential, you must provide confirmation
- Background in the Baggage Handling, Automation or Aviation industry with experience with the electrical / mechanical aspects of a conveyor system
- Have or be able to obtain an OH&S certificate, elevated work platform license, forklift license, first aid certificate
- Ability to work with MS Word and Excel
- Proven Team Leadership / Supervisory skills desirable
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrates good initiative and continuous improvement mindset
- Stakeholder management skills
- Be prepared to work in varied environments – including office, mechanical conveyor and baggage rooms and heavy lifting is required (up to 40kgs) and climbing required. There
